Tetra WebBBS

A prosperous 2011 to our readers

2010-12-30

How time flies! We're at the end of another year. Time to look behind and ahead again.

Looking behind to 2010:

Though we released only a minor update of the core software this year (Tetra-WebBBS 6.11), we did release a new TetraBB PRO version in early 2010 and worked on a lot of stuff waiting in the garage to be pushed out soon or sitting further back in the DEV shed.
Of course it was impossible to work on every detail which is on ToDo lists, but that's not a surprise at all.

During 2010 a couple of really large forum sites upgraded to current versions of Tetra-WebBBS including the PRO extension. "Large" in these cases means sites with more than one forum/archive and an overall total of far beyond 1,000,000 posts.

In summary 2010 was a very successfull year for this project.

Looking ahead to 2011:

Like for every other year the current ToDo list for 2011 is longer than what could be done within a year. So again decisions will be made based on priority rather than based on age of ToDo list items. Nevertheless there are a couple of things to expect for sure.

The next version of Tetra-WebBBS (6.13) is waiting in the garage.
The latest DEV snapshot of 6.13 is running stable on a number of production sites. Thus the final will be pushed out once I've managed to update the docs. ETA is somewhen in February. Maybe a few days before or behind.

The version after next likely becomes Tetra-WebBBS 6.14.
It's currently in the DEV shed and I've started working on first prototype installs on a few selected production sites. Together with Tetra-WebBBS 6.14 comes a new release of TetraBB PRO (0.30). The next PRO release will cover a feature which has been asked for a few times but basically is entirely new to the community. I won't state yet what it is to keep you curious for a while ;).

Anyway, all versions will come with new features required by sites actively supporting the project either as ongoing maintenance sites or by sponsoring features. So it's time again to thank those people who support this project. It's them who keep the project alive!

All the very best to you and your families for a prosperous 2011.
