: I had suggested that any variable that existed in the old version
: but has a changed or expanded definition in the new version have
: some sort of indicator put next to them in the variable
: definition page.
Well. Of course this could be done - with even more time to be spent on the docs, taking away from development.
Just to state it very clearly, not insulting you or anybody else.
The software is free - a lot of time went into it.
The docs are there and full of information - for free - a lot of time went into it.
Our discussion is more than 120 posts now.
Steve and me reading each message ~ 1min = total of 4 hours
Steve or me responding ~60 times ~ 5 min each = total of 5 hours
Which makes a total of 9 hours individual help for free.
So I believe you've found enough stuff for free here.
Suggestions always welcome of course.
But reading the docs for a free product isn't asked too much IMHO.
: As far as me knowing what is possible or not at this moment, my
: post here was to REQUEST that you add this sort of feature in
: the future. Rainer replied and said the stuff was all there
: already to do it and told me to read, so I did. I put the
: $sessiontime variable into my admin_config.pl script, it didnt
: work to keep me logged in as admin after the browser was closed
: and opened again.
Exactly - That's a session cookie.
As I said before: Security IS a pain!
Still don't get why you want to have the SERVER keep an open session for such a long time?
Did you ever hear about the 'man in the middle'?
: I can not disable the password for the admin
: (as the other setting would allow) because I don't have the
: script password protected on the server or anything.
Well, then do and you should be fine.
: At any rate, I was and am suggesting that you guys look into adding
: a feature to allow the Admin Session Time to be set in the
: script, if you find it worthy I guess....
That's not possible for various reasons.
