Yes. I understand this. Sort of *support existing installations but don't force new admins to pick old version* - did I get this right?

Yes.
*If* we're doing anything towards V7 I think it's important to always provide dev-versions for download. Unstable, not working, working partially, partially stable - all this is not important but the fact a project makes progress is. The more often theses releases are available the less stability is required. - See some major projects offering nightly builds (though totally unstable sometimes).

Well, I think you're right here.
It's hard to sort things out sometimes, esp. if it's an international community communicating over the net only.

And we should keep in mind the fact that you moving to HK will make communication a little slower due to the timeshift over 3 continents. It's not a big deal but it must be recognized.
