Tetra-WebBBS Support Forum
: Suggest pointing out on the Banned IPs Filter page that if the IP
: is not a shared major ISP IP it can be added to .htaccess and
: blocked from the site.
: in .htaccess
: order allow,deny
: deny from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
: allow from all
Thanks for input, John.
Next major topic is about access control to forums anyway. Only its focus is more on a dynamic approach rather than maually edits of filters (built-in or .htaccess). Problem with all IP banning is one needs to know where the bad guys are coming from before they access the forum and not edit a list after they already stopped by.
Furthermore it's not only the bad guys submitting automated posts. It's as well all sort of blackhats harvesting the forum for whatsoever reason. Most webmasters don't even get aware of such events. It's only a few admins looking at raw accesslogs ..... and even less doing it on a regular basis
So the new dynamic approach might be usefull for some sites.
However, it will become part of PRO and will be made available for ongoing maintenance sites somewhen 3rd quarter.
Have a nice weekend.
Rainer
