(1) in case you down-uploaded to achieve the transfer, you DID do both in ASCII mode of your FTP client for everything except the countlist file??? Ensure to explicitely set your FTP client to perform up-download in ASCII and ensure it doesn't reconnect itself in case of a broken connection.
Messagedata and addresses must be transfered ASCII. Only countlist is binary.

(2) rebuild doesn't work from public entry script any more for improved security. Use the link on admin portal page. With 7K messages this shouldn't be a problem.
