5.12 - I know you hate to hear this...

I am still running a 5.12 board because, long ago, Tarty created some custom mods for me that I still need (max of 4 posts per user in 24 hours, etc.).

This is the ONLY place I could find to possibly ask a WebBBS question.

I run a moderated local community board, and after many years I had over 7000 profiles. I removed 6000 profiles (via FTP) that were no longer used.

As soon as I removed those 6000 profiles, the following happened. Every current user lost their stored name and password in the message posting form. I tested it, and the cookie is still being written, but most users, after deleting their cookies and getting a new one, are not able to have their name and password saved to the message posting form.

The only directory I worked on via FTP was the profiles directory.

Does anyone have an idea of what might have happened?
