The old problem.
Make tons of modifications to a free software and you're creating your own private version.
Unfortunately you'll have to maintain your private version on your own.

There are far more "very" good reasons to upgrade any older version than just the cookies. Read through releasenotes in documentations - it's 10 released versions since we started to work on Darryl's codebase 4 years back.
