$ArchiveOnly is an old variable, inherited from older WebBBS versions. Tetra-WebBBS focuses on making archives browsable. Therefore the old $ArchiveOnly is deprecated since 5.30 and excluded from further testing of newer versions. However, it may still work in some newer versions of Tetra-WebBBS but certainly will be dropped sooner or later.

Here is what this variable was supposed to do:

If $ArchiveOnly variable is set to '0', the board will function normally.
If $ArchiveOnly set to 1, instead of the message index users will be prompted with a searchform.
The message posting form will not appear on the index page or on message pages.
